Our Mandate

The Mandate of the Fort Malden Guild of Arts and Crafts Board is to educate visitors, members, exhibitors and the community on the history of our building and to actively promote an appreciation for visual arts and craft. To accomplish this we provide the following:

   * A full season of exhibits in our state of the art Gallery and Exhibit space. Exhibits are sought from local artists and artisans, from a partnership with the Art Gallery of Windsor works are exhibited from their extensive permanent collection and from travelling art and cultural exhibits (ie.Royal Ontario Museum). Admission is free. 
 

   * Partnerships with other groups to encourage particitpation in the arts. (ie Greater Essex County District Board of Education, Windsor Camera Club, AMG, AGW, etc)

   * Preservation and maintainance of our "designated historic site", the Michigan Central railroad  Station,c.1896. and the attached Caboose Museum which provides an exhibit of the history of  the Railroad in Amherstburg. 

   * Arts and Crafts instruction for children and adults. Children's classes are offered at affordable prices for children 5-12 throughout the summer.   

   * provide a home to local informal groups & guilds to meet and pursue an appreciation of their art and/or craft.
